Veronica Mars - The Movie
Veronica Mars - The Movie

A little over a year ago, I had a brief period of mourning (slightly shorter than the period of mourning I had over the passing of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") at the passing of a little show on the CW called "Veronica Mars." The witty show about a high school aged detective who was a cross between Nancy Drew, Buffy and Columbo was a favorite of mine (even as I stewed over the fact that my college alum Kristen Bell was having a lot of success as a little blond person... Ah, if only). Although the third season saw the creative juices of the show slumping as they tried to please an audience and network that were getting far too revved up about the Pussycat Dolls to care about a show with a smart female lead, "Veronica Mars" deserved far better than the send-off it received.
Now that The Pussycat Dolls have died a slow reality show death and "Sex and the City" has cleared the way for plenty of failed television shows to receive a second chance at big screen success, there is hope. According to the Ausiello Report, Mars creator Rob Thomas has been in discussion with Bell about reviving her feisty character for the big screen. With Thomas currently working on two television projects and Bell doing some big screen work in her downtime, it may be a little while before the movie comes to pass. But I'm crossing my fingers that soon we'll be seeing Veronica (and hope against hope, Logan and Keith Mars) on movie screens very soon.
