Katie Can't Sell Tickets
Katie Can't Sell Tickets

Poor Katie Holmes. As if it weren't bad enough that she was replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal in the biggest movie of the summer, that the paparazzi follow her every move, that she's resembling Posh Spice more with every passing day AND that the entire universe is convinced that Tom Cruise strapped her to a chair and brainwashed the living heck out of her, now comes the rumor that she might not be the draw the media has made her out to be.
In her first foray into Broadway big time, Katie took on quite the lofty project, plucking a prime role in the Arthur Miller drama, "All My Sons." But I guess people aren't that interested in seeing the former Joey Potter onstage, unless it's possibly in a production of "Les Miserables." Tickets are not selling up to expectation for the show and the fault for the underselling is being placed firmly on Katie's ever so skinny shoulders.
But you can't blame Katie entirely. The rest of the cast includes Broadway heavyweights John Lithgow, Dianne Weist and Patrick Wilson, each of whom has helmed at least one successful Broadway show in their time. So maybe blame the marketing or PR staff who think the only way to get people to a show nowadays is to push the starlet. Maybe next time, push the quality script or the rest of the stellar cast and give the theater-going audiences a little bit of credit.
