America, get ready for some changes to your favorite reality show. On the heels of the news that executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is stepping down from his duties comes the decree that Idol needs to spice up their judges table. And they're doing it by adding a second woman to combat Simon's snarky, slightly misogynistic snipes.
Kara DioGuardi, a prolific pop songwriter, has been all over the charts for several years and has penned a multitude of hits over the years. She's incredibly familiar with the Idol stable of singers, as she participated in the conception of albums by Clay Aiken, Diana Degarmo, Kelly Clarkson, Bo Bice, Katherine McPhee and Carrie Underwood. Among her non-Idol credits are albums by most of pop's biggest names including Natasha Bedingfield, Leona Lewis, Pink, Britney Spears, Jewel, The Pussy Cat Dolls, Gwen Stefani and many, many more.
Does this mean that Idol might have a geniunely good final song this year? That if Paula loses her mind again, they'll have a spare? That Simon will have new cleavage to oggle? Only time will tell, but definitely a promising development.
