Nip/Tuck Has Been Snipped

According to TV Guide, FX has decided to pull the plug on their controversially quasi-despicable soap, "Nip/Tuck."  Before you cry out in disbelief at no longer getting to see Julian McMahon's backside on a regular basis (as I may have done), take a deep breath.  It seems this announcement is a wee bit premature.

Yes, "Nip/Tuck" now has an end date in sight.  But that end isn't coming until the year 2011.  The show will finish out the previous season, which was cut short due to the writer's strike and will finish up a full season 6 before making their final surgical procedures.

I understand why FX decided to make this announcement so early.  Like "Lost," which made a similar cancellation announcement dated 3 years in the future, "Nip/Tuck" is a groundbreaking show that has lost and regained its mojo several times over.  There's no better way to goose a series' ratings than to threaten that it will be gone soon.

But what more can "Nip/Tuck" possibly do?  They've had several serial killers, dog-loving, man-loving, woman-loving, little person-loving, self-imposed circumcisions, white supremicists, transexuals, porn stars, drug addicts, molestation, Mario Lopez, deaths by bus and alligator and botched surgery and rooftops, etc. etc. etc.  What the hell are they going to do for two more seasons?
